ROBBIE GALLIER

PRESS RELEASE: 30th August 2010

Record Win for Robbie

Karting ace 13 year old Eurocams backed Robbie Gallier of Lympsham was competing in the NKRA Grand Final at the Llandow circuit in South Wales. He was defending his Honda Cadet title, the title he first won in 2009 in his first full season of Karting.

After some disappointment and mechanical problems he suffered the weekend before in his home round of the British Championship, he was determined to put that behind him. He qualified and won the Southern Region element of the NKRA Championship so he was keen to maintain his form.

Arriving at the circuit on Friday, Robbie spent the day running in a new engine, so it was not until free practice on the Saturday that he had a chance to measure his pace against his fellow competitors. Not happy that the new engine was fully run in he opted to run the spare.

In the afternoon it was straight in to the heats of which there were three on the Saturday. With the Southern Honda Cadet Champion and friend George Thompson also competing, he knew that he had to be on top form. This he undoubtedly proved by winning all three heats convincingly.

Going into Sunday, after the Kart was completely rebuilt by Jeff Johnson of Prokart to ensure everything was perfect for the Sunday pre final and final, the team realized Robbie could be looking at a record win. Their hunch was correct as Robbie starting from the back of the grid for the pre final took the lead on the 4th of 10 laps and went on to win stamping his authority on proceedings.

Starting from pole for the final, and with Gallier and Thompson both able to take the overall Championship with 14 laps each taking just over 51 seconds, it was going to be a very tense seven plus minutes. Gallier started well and with there being a strong wind the pack settled behind Gallier for the first 5 laps. Then Gallier and Japanese driver Yukinori Ishii broke away from the pack. On lap 9 Ishii went for the lead and Gallier tucked up behind and waited until the last lap to make his move. This he did to take the win by just a tenth of a second in a really nail biting finish and a well deserved win for Gallier.

This fantastic result has put young Gallier in the NKRA record books as he is the only driver to win the Honda Cadet Championship consecutively by winning every heat and the final.

PRESS RELEASE: 23rd August 2010

Mixed Fortunes for Robbie

Hopes were high for a good weekend racing in the British Championship for 13 year old Robbie Gallier of Lympsham, as the British Honda Cadet Championship was visiting his home track of Clay Pigeon which is just outside Yeovil in Somerset.

The free practice sessions on Friday were difficult as the circuit was swamped in low cloud and rain all day, but the Prokart team and Robbie adapted well to the conditions. Known for his pace in the wet Robbie was soon on the pace and swapping times with the top three in the championship. It was just as well a good set up was found as only two of the six practice sessions were held on the Saturday with the others cancelled and the first heat postponed until Sunday due to the visibility problems.

Sunday saw totally different conditions with the track drying and the sun starting to breakthrough. Out for the first of the three heats each had their dramas at the starts as there was a large grid of 22. Each heat saw Robbie fight back through the pack to finish in the top 5 in every heat and qualifying a fine 3rd for the first final. The start went badly when the pole man just didn’t get away which meant Robbie was dropped down to 7th. Again making a great comeback he clawed his way back up, with the first two being able to break free from the pack Robbie was never going to be able to finish higher than a fine 3rd.

All looked good for the final qualifying 3rd again, as the result of final one determines the starting position in the second final. This time saw Robbie not make the best of starts and again he had to fight back through the pack and there were many changes until the eighth lap when he made a move in the chicane. Even the commentator said what an excellent move and that he had the inside line, however the clerk of the course was not happy about the move and at the end of the race added 7 seconds to Robbie’s times dropping him down to 10th from 3rd. This did seem rough justice. Robbie typically mature about the penalty, commented “I did not agree with the decision, but there has to be rules and I have to just take the penalty and move on. It was still a great weekend and great to see all my sponsors and friends at the track”. Robbie is still in the top 5 and all to race for in the last round at Buckmore Park in October.

PRESS RELEASE: 26th July 2010

Convincing Win for Robbie

Robbie Gallier was back in action at the Dunkeswell Kart track Mansell Raceway for the first time since his major accident there a year ago which left young Gallier with a broken collar bone and wrist.

The 13 year old was on scintillating form. Having not raced there since the accident and not been available for the open practice sessions on Saturday, he had just the three compulsory practice laps on Sunday morning to familiarize himself with the track. It was at Dunkeswell that Robbie had his first ever Honda Cadet win, and he soon proved that he had remembered the best lines around the superb track. In the first of three heats his confidence was boosted with a terrific win in the Honda Cadet clas. This was to be repeated in the two subsequent heats and taking fastest lap in all three heats it was dream return for Robbie.

This put him on pole in the Honda Cadet class of 18 for the final. With the temperature increasing, tyre pressures were going to be crucial; with the Prokart team that normally runs Robbie on holiday it was up to Dad Julien to get the set up spot on. Robbie made an excellent start, but then there was a tangle in the fourth corner which put Robbie back to 7th. He had his work cut out and got back to the front and take the lead, only for the race to end prematurely when the red flag went out due to an accident. Thankfully no one was hurt and Robbie could go on to celebrate his superb days racing, winning all three heats and the final in the Honda Cadet class also taking fastest lap in all four races.

Robbie commented; “I only decided to race late on Saturday, so a big thanks to my Dad who set my Kart up brilliantly. It was great to be back at Dunkeswell and now I can remember winning there again and not the accident”

PRESS RELEASE: 12th July 2010

Robbie’s Home Win

Racing in the last qualifying round of the NKRA Southern Championship, 13 year old Gallier, Eurocams backed driver of Lympsham was at his local track Clay Pigeon situated between Yeovil and Dorchester. There was the added competition of the two front runner’s, Billy Monger and Dave Wooder in the British Championship racing there to gain experience of the track for when the British Championship visits in August. Robbie is currently 4th and 1st Rookie in that Championship.

Robbie run by the Prokart team, decided after his grueling schedule of five consecutive race weekends that they would miss the free practice on the Saturday, but with just 3 laps practice on the Sunday race day Robbie was soon able to give the feedback that gave him an optimum set up. With the largest grid for Honda Cadets this year, 29 of the top drivers in the country Robbie was going need the best possible set up, especially as he was to start 17th in the first of three heats which he finished 7th after getting tangled up in an accident which happened in front of him. In heat two starting 2nd Robbie had a tremendous battle with Wooder who started 3rd. Wooder came out on top to take the win. With a few tweaks to the set up to help cope with the blistering heat, in heat three and from 8th Robbie had a battle again with Wooder and this time came out on top to take the win.

This placed Robbie 4th on the grid for the final. This was an incredible four way battle, starting on the dirty side of the track, Robbie had to get across to get the line into the first corner. This he did only for the race to be stopped, so he had to do it all again and he did. He got to 3rd as Wooder and Monger battled Robbie then took the lead on the second lap. Knowing he had to preserve his tyres he dropped back to 2nd and then made a great move on lap 10 of 12 took the lead again and defended well and pulled a small distance away from Wooder and Monger, he also took the win and joint fastest lap with Wooder. A great result that showed he can mix it with and beat the best in the country. Robbie now has a well deserved break until the 21st and 22nd of August when he will compete at Clay again in the British Championship.

PRESS RELEASE: 5th July 2010

Podium for Robbie

After a grueling 8 hour trip to Larkhall near Glasgow, Eurocams backed Lympsham Karting ace Robbie Gallier was determined to make good use of his only other previous visit to the track some weeks ago, when he finished on the podium.

The 13 year old is in his first year in the prestigious British Championship of which the Larkhall race is round four. He initially found it difficult to get the ideal set up in Friday’s free practice sessions, but then by late afternoon he and the team got the set up to his liking and Robbie surprised the regulars by being on the pace. With the weather being hot and sunny on both Friday and Saturday, there was just one heat on the Saturday in which Robbie was to finish a fine 4th. The weather forecast was for very high winds and rain for Sunday’s and with two heats and two finals there was no time to test a wet set up, as the Prokart team had not raced at the track in the wet, but with Robbie’s tremendous form in the wet at other tracks and Prokart teams help and experience they were confident Robbie would be on the pace. They were proved right as Robbie starting 17th in heat two, drove a brilliant 12 lap race in appalling wind and rain and finished 4th. In heat three from 13th now with a drying track and with great tyre pressure choice by the Prokart team, Robbie drove a stunning race to get to 3rd only to be nudged wide in the second from last corner to finish still a fine 7th.

These excellent results meant that Robbie would start from 4th in the first of two finals. Again with set up adjustments and Robbie’s determination to achieve his first British Championship podium, after a thrilling 18 lap race with the lead changing five times Robbie came through to take the win. This meant Robbie would start the final on pole, but on the start there was an accident which was a shame as Robbie got away from the pack. On the restart he again took the lead only to be hit on the off side corner which spun him out and dropped him to 21st and last. Then in the most thrilling race of his year and half career against the best Honda Cadet drivers in the country, he stormed through making up places to be challenging on the last lap for third, when the same driver pushed him wide yet again. This time Gallier came through to take fourth and the coveted fastest lap, with the offending driver going off in the run off area. Everybody commented on Robbie’s drive as the drive of the weekend. His never give up attitude paid dividends as he leads the Rookie class and is now only 8 points off third in the championship.

Outright Wins for Robbie

Racing his Eurocams supported Kart, thirteen year old Robbie Gallier of Lympsham was on scintillating form at the Llandow circuit, just west Cardiff, in the fourth round of the NKRA (national kart racing association) Championship.

He was up against the other top Honda Cadet championship contenders in the southern qualifier for the National Final which is to be held at Llandow on August bank holiday weekend. After his fantastic results so far and from his races at Llandow he has already secured a place in the final with one round still to be held.

In Saturday's open practice the Prokart Engineering team opted to try engines and set up, and after a few changes Robbie was satisfied he had the pace to finish on the podium. He was proved right as in the first of the three heats and in the final that took place on the Sunday he proved to be on unbeatable form. Starting from 6th in only the second lap of 10, he took the lead to go on and win with a comfortable margin of 3 seconds. In the second heat starting from pole, a position the youngster has not been comfortable starting from of late, this time he proved that he good handle the pressure to take the lead and never to be challenged as again he won. The toughest heat was to be his third of the day, when starting from 11th not fazing him at all, he went into the lead on the second lap to again take the win.

This put 13 year old Gallier on pole for the final. The race started and he went into the lead immediately only for the race to be red flagged due to a serious accident. On the restart Robbie again raced from pole and maintained the lead to the flag, winning by 5 seconds and making a clean sweep by winning all three heats and the final. He also took fastest lap in all. Robbie said to his father at the end of the final "Happy Fathers day" and Julien Robbie’s father commenting, “this is the best fathers day present ever”

Robbie is now looking forward to repeating this form at Larkhall in Scotland in two weeks time when he will be competing in the next round of the British Championship.

PRESS RELEASE: 17th June 2010

Racing his Eurocams supported Honda Cadet Kart in round three of the prestigious British Championships which was held at the Shennington circuit located in the Cotswold’s, 13 year old Robbie Gallier of Lympsham was determined to gain as many points as possible to ensure he increased his lead in the Rookie class and moved up the leader board in the overall championship. Still only in his second year of Karting Robbie having only visited the circuit once before, the team opted for the open practice sessions on the Friday, and these proved invaluable.

During the Friday sessions Robbie was consistently amongst the quickest. This really encouraged young Gallier as at the previous round at Rowrah the team struggled with power and set up.

In the first of three heats held on the Saturday, with the two other heats plus pre final and final held on the Sunday, Robbie drove a superb race from 8th to finish 2nd. Heat two again saw Robbie on the pace of the best in the country with another fine 2nd from 8th. The drive of the weekend was in the third heat when from 19th he came through pack in only 10 laps to finish a superb 3rd.

These fine qualifying heats meant that Robbie had achieved a superb points tally. It also put Robbie on pole for the pre final, however with the temperature suddenly increasing the team were a little concerned about the tyre pressures, and this proved to be a genuine worry as the 15 lap race went on Robbie slipped back to finish a still credible 5th. He and the team were still not sure what the problem was and changed a few things for the final which left Robbie and the team finish very frustrated as he knew that he could match the pace of the front runners if he had the right set up. He finished 6th from 5th as the frustrations induced a few unusual mistakes by the young Karter. The team came away knowing they now have the pace and just have to perfect the set up to enable Robbie’s full potential to be allowed to shine. It was an excellent weekend for points as the superb showing in the heats now means Robbie has established a 20 point lead in the Rookie class and moved up to 4th overall.

The next outing sees Robbie back at Llandow for the 4th round of the NKRA championship which he is currently leading in the Honda Cadet class.

PRESS RELEASE: 24th May 2010

Robbie Wins Welsh Championship

Eurocams backed Lympsham Karter 13 year old Robbie Gallier was on blistering form at the two day Welsh Championships at the Llandow Circuit, situated just west of Cardiff.

Last year, despite winning the Llandow club championship, Robbie missed out on the Welsh Championship title after his chain came off just 2 laps from the finish line whilst leading, after winning all the heats and breaking the lap record which still stands.

So this year the team was bolstered with the support of Jeff Johnson of Prokart Engineering who was to run Robbie during the weekend as he does in the British Championship. In Saturday’s free practice sessions, of which there were three, he stamped his authority by being quickest in all three, no mean feat as there were fellow British Championship competitors taking part as well as other Honda drivers from all over the country.

In the pre qualifying Robbie qualified pole for the first heat, he made it back to first after a poor start to take a comfortable win, then disaster struck, when there was found to be a mistake on the paperwork and the wrong chassis number had been entered on the form. Robbie was disqualified from the heat and the lack of heat points this meant Robbie would start at the back of the grid for the pre final, no matter where he finished in the other two heats, all of which he won and had the fastest lap time. Going into the pre final and 22nd on the grid, Robbie drove superbly, making some amazing overtaking moves in apart of the circuit called the dell to take the win. This great result put him on pole for the 12 lap final, being on Sunday afternoon and with it being the hottest day of the year, tyre pressures were going to be critical and with what happened the previous year, Jeff Johnson checked everything. Robbie made a superb start and led from the start never to be challenged, winning the 12 lap final by 3 seconds an amazing margin in Karting. The winning of the Welsh Championships means Robbie can now display the letter C instead of numbers identifying his kart for the next 12 months.

Robbie commented “Its great to win, after last year I was not confident until I saw the chequred flag and went over the finish line. Jeff and my Dad were brilliant and my kart was perfect all weekend.”

Robbie Toughs it Out

13 year old Karter Robbie Gallier backed by Eurocams of Lympsham, made the long trip up to Cumbria for the second round of the British Championship, which was held at the Rowrah circuit over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Broadoak School which he attends have made it possible for Robbie to compete at the highest level as they have helped him with time to travel to the events that are a long way from his home.

Friday saw the free practice in changeable conditions, and more importantly it gave him track time as he had only competed at the track once before. During the testing it was obvious that he was down on power, and the team tried everything to improve the engine performance. Unfortunately there was little they could do being 200+ miles away from base.

Robbie showed the sheer determination that has made him a multiple champion last year, in his first year in Karting, as he decided to make the most of the weekend and tough it out and gain as many points as possible.

With there being warm sunshine on the Saturday and one heat in the afternoon, the team knew it would be difficult for Robbie to be on the pace. He drove well from 7th on the grid to finish 5th. The heat that showed Robbie’s true talent was in the second heat which took place on the Sunday, when he went from 19th to an amazing 3rd. As it was damp the lack of power was not so important and allowed his natural talent in the difficult conditions to shine. The result of the next heat and the pre final saw Robbie in the final 6th on the grid. With the sun coming out and a now dry track Robbie did well to make a place and finish a fine 5th, which has consolidated his 5th position in the championship. The team is now working on the power problem and hopes to have it sorted for the next round in June, which is at the Shennington circuit in Gloucestershire.

Back to Back Wins for Gallier

Lympsham Karting ace Robbie Gallier backed by Eurocams, had a dream weekend fresh from the success of winning the third round of the NKRA championship held at Forest Edge against tough competition in the Honda Cadet class. The 13 year old was back at his local track, Clay Pigeon near Dorchester where he is the reigning Honda Cadet Champion, and stamped his authority by winning outright the Honda Cadet class in style.

Robbie was hoping to do well as visiting Clay Pigeon was a Formula One management consultant who had made the trip to see Robbie in action with a view of being involved with Robbie in 2011.

Due to the busy schedule the team opted for attending race day only and not to participate in free practice on Saturday, making the result even more impressive. In heat one starting 9th Gallier got to 3rd in the 7 lap heat. Starting 4th in the other two heats he won them both which meant that he had pole for the 12 lap final a position he held for the entire 12 laps to take the win. It was a tough race as the competition was very stiff, and as Clay is the track where Jenson Button started his career it is seen as a major stepping stone to a future motor sport career.

Chris Hutchings who has worked with many up and coming drivers and is helping Robbie and his father commented;

“This was a terrific weekend for Robbie with the visiting consultant at the track and other important meeting, and Robbie could not have performed any better. We are trying to put a three year deal together for Robbie to help him through next important stages. This is looking very possible and I am convinced there will be some very exciting announcements about 2011 very soon. Its been obvious to me from the outset that the talent is there and Robbie really wants to succeed. It's now all about helping Robbie and the family through next stages of Robbie’s career and to maximize every opportunity.”

Robbie is off next weekend to Rowrah in Cumbria for the second round of the British championship. Robbie is currently holding the highest placed Rookie slot,. and as he was unwell for the first round he feels sure he can improve on his previous result.

PRESS RELEASE: 4th May 2010

Gallier Back on Track

Eurocams backed Robbie Gallier returned to winning form to take a convincing win on the Prokart Engineering run kart at the Forest Edge Karting Track situated near Andover in Hampshire. The thirteen year old from Lympsham has had a difficult couple of race meetings recently, and really wanted to do well as he is defending the National title in the Honda Cadet class which he won last year in his first year in karting so convincingly.

Opting for Saturday’s open practice the team worked hard on the set up all day and Robbie was a lot happier with the kart than he has been of late. He proved this by being consistently just two tenths of a second off the lap record.

On the Sunday race day the team woke to a very wet track and totally different conditions to the Saturdays testing. With Robbie starting from pole, the track by the time Robbie was to race was neither wet or dry so tyre choice was difficult. Slicks turned out to be the wrong choice with all the other 46 competitors on wets he did well to drop only to 4th. In the second heat starting from 9th Robbie was into the lead before the end of the first lap, but the race was stopped due to an accident. On the restart Robbie did well to get up to third only to bumped from behind which nearly spun him out of the race. Now back to 12th in just 5 laps he made a tremendous comeback to regain and take 3rd.

Heat three was simply the best race young Robbie has driven this year. Starting from 19th and avoiding another accident that happened in front of him which dropped him back to 24th, his never give up sprit he has shown since taking up Karting served him well as he drove a fantastic 6 laps to take a tremendous third. This put Robbie on 4th for the final out of 46 a great achievement, especially as it was only his second visit to the track this year. The 12 lap final was full of incidents and in the first lap Robbie got back up to 4th and first Honda after dropping to 9th as another competitor spun in front of him. As he was there to win the Honda class for the NKRA championship he resisted until the last lap to take 3rd overall and first in his class by a convincing margin.

This has now secured his position as leading Honda Cadet driver in the southern NKRA region, and should secure his place in the grand final to be held at Llandow in South Wales in August.

Robbie is back to the track that is his local, the Clay Pigeon track near Yeovil next weekend where Jenson Button first raced in Karts.

PRESS RELEASE: 21st April 2010

Gallier Heads NKRA Southern

The now 13 year old Karting ace of Lympsham came through a weekend of mixed fortunes. Opting for the additional practice day which was made possible due to school holidays, he felt he needed more track time as this was just the third time he visited the Buckmore track which is Kent. With all the practice going well on Friday, Saturday was a different story as Robbie just could not match the pace he had on Friday.

Going into the Sunday's race day, and not over confident that he had found the best set up on the Prokart Engineering run Kart, with a few adjustments he stunned the time and on-lookers by taking the fastest time and with pole position for the first race. Still not 100% with the set up, his suspicions were proved correct as he slipped back all through the 8 lap heat to finish 5th, but still ahead of the other NKRA challengers. This put Robbie 5th on the grid for the pre final, and after battling up and down the order this is where he was to finish the heat and meant again he would start the pre final in 5th.

Adjustments were made as Robbie and the team were baffled by the lack of pace in the races, with gearing now changed it was hoped this would assist Robbie pull out of the corners but it was not the solution. After getting up to as high as 2nd he gradually slipped back to finish again 5th. Now very frustrated the youngster was determined stop at nothing to try and maintain his hold on the NKRA Championship. Starting 5th he was not feeling overly confident, but typically he was determined to salvage something from the weekend and put up a tremendous fight at one point up to 3rd momentarily in the 8th lap of 12, then on the drag up the hill he was pushed wide and slipped to 8th.

Considering he was up against 28 of the best Honda Cadet drivers in the UK , the team where looking at the overall championship positions and Robbie had still managed to finish ahead of all the other National Kart Racing Association contenders to take the lead in the NKRA Southern Championship.

Robbie Impresses

The Lympsham Karter, 12 year old Robbie Gallier, competing in the first round of the 2010 British Honda Cadet Championship at the North Wales circuit Glan-y-Gors, battled through a heavy cold and impressed all the established teams and drivers. The meeting was held over three days with a full day of testing on Friday followed by one heat on Saturda, and two heats, a pre final plus the final on the Sunday.

Friday's testing was mainly all wet which was not an ideal pre test, as the weather over the rest of the weekend became dryer and even sunny at times.

Now carrying the new team decals of title sponsor Eurocams and run by Prokart Engineering, Robbie was determined to impress his new backers and starting the first heat 12th on the grid and reveling in the still slippery conditions especially being on slicks he came through the pack to finish a superb 5th. This really helped his confidence. The first heat on Saturday was going to be difficult, being up against 21 of the best Honda drivers in the country, so coming through the pack when his starting position of 20th was going to be difficult. Robbie undaunted and using all his skill in the slippery conditions, which suit his smooth driving style, making an excellent start he came through the pack with an inspiring drive to finish 4th - a result that at this level was amazing.

The next heat proved more difficult, starting from pole. He started well finding the pace blistering in the now dry conditions he did well to resist the pressure during the 12 laps, he slowly slipped back after just a couple of small mistakes which meant he finished that heat 5th.

With all the heat points dictating the starting position in the pre final meant he was to start 5th for a thrilling race as he changed position six times during the 14 laps, he managed hold on to 5th. This meant Robbie was to start his first British Championship final 5th, a great achievement as the team had dreamed for such a starting position and considering how Robbie was feeling were very pleased. The final was again a battle as Robbie got to third at one point and dropped back as far as 8th during the 15 minute final, but made a great comeback at the end of the race to finish a fine 5th.

The team delighted. As ever the only person not was Robbie as he felt if he had been feeling better he is sure he can in future rounds be fighting for a podium. His superb heat and final results mean that Robbie is now 4th overall and the 1st Rookie in the Championship.

The next round is at Rowrah in Cumbria on the 15th and 16th of May, a circuit Robbie has never visited before. He is hoping to test there soon and is looking forward to the challenge.

Robbie Makes it Count

Back at his home circuit and now sponsored by Eurocams, 12 year old Robbie Gallier from Lympsham was up against some of the best Honda Cadet Karter’s in the country as many were visiting the Clay Pigeon track near Yeovil in preparation for the British Championship round which is held there later in the year.

Knowing it was going to be a tough weekend, a full day’s practice on the Saturday was essential and running with the Prokart Eng team was going to help maximize the set up.

The practice went well and Gallier was constantly on the pace. New tyres were fitted and scrubbed in for the Sunday’s heats and final. On the first of these heats he came through the pack from his 12th starting position to take 3rd doing well to avoid an accident ahead of him also taking fastest lap. He was to have an easier time in the second heat as he started from 2nd and comfortably took the win. The third heat was always going to be difficult as starting from 16th he needed 4th to take pole for the final. Doing well to come through to 6th after a incident packed heat was not enough. Starting from 2nd on the grid on the dirty side of the track, he knew he had to take an early lead to close the door. This he did at the first corner twice as the race had to be restarted after a accident at the first attempt at starting the race. Then under immense pressure in all 12 laps from Billy Monger, rated one of the favorites as Robbie is in this year British championship, doing well to hold the lead until the last corner when going just a fraction wide opened the door to Monger who took the win. Robbie finishing second was enough to maintain his lead in the Clay championship and take maximum points for the NKRA Championship.

PRESS RELEASE: 8th March 2010

Robbie’s Double Header

Robbie Gallier from Lympsham was racing this weekend at the Forest Edge kart Circuit near Andover in Hampshire. The 12-year-old last raced there 7 months ago, but this did not hamper the youngster’s progress. It did make the Saturday open practice essential to ensure he had the best possible set up.

With the help of his father Julien, they worked through four different set ups in the 6 sessions to come up with one they were happy with. Robbie was the quickest Honda Cadet throughout the day which was testament to the hard work and made the day very worthwhile.

Sunday the race day was extremely cold, making it very difficult to get heat into the tyres. This did not hamper Robbie as he went on to win all but one of the three heats in the Honda Cadet class. This put Robbie in pole position in the class and 4th overall. Mixing it with the much lighter and faster Comer Cadet class, Robbie drove a superb race and won the Honda class and even finished 2nd overall in doing so beating 20 plus of the Comer class.

At the end of the day was a special race for all Cadets. This saw Robbie having to start at the back of the 32 grid, which was to make the faster drivers come through the pack and 15 laps were allowed. Robbie in amazing form came through to win in just 8 laps, showing his amazing overtaking and track skill.

His racing at Forest Edge was in preparation for his visit there later in the year to defend his Southern NKRA title that he won at his first attempt in 2009.

Two out of Two for Robbie

Back in action for the second time in 2010, 12 year old Lympsham Karter Robbie Gallier was on electrifying form at the Clay Pigeon Kart track near Dorchester in Dorset - the very track where Jenson Button made a name for himself in Karting.

Robbie went into the weekend up for the challenge. There was one of the biggest grids of Honda Cadets seen for a long time at Clay, with many drivers visiting the track in readiness for the British Championship round which will be at Clay later in the year.

Going into Saturday's free practice the team knew it would not be easy to find the best set up, as Robbie is very smooth and getting heat in the tyres in very cold weather is key. With Jeff Johnson of Prokart Engineering’s help they found the best set up for Robbie. and in the later session he went fastest.

On Sunday’s race day Robbie blasted through the pack. Starting 9th he won the first heat and starting 2nd in the second heat saw Robbie yet again take the win. In heat three he started 10th, avoided an incident which dropped him to 14th, and undaunted by this he drove in just 8 laps a tremendous race and went on to finish second.

On pole for the 12 lap final Robbie demonstrated what made him a multiple champion in 2009 his first full year. He took the win never being challenged and by an amazing margin of 10.86 seconds. This being the only club Championship he will compete in this year he is already on the away to national championship this year.

Robbie Stuns the Opposition

Robbie Gallier at just 12 years old and entering only is second full season in Karting produced this weekend the Championship form the Lympsham Karter has become renowned for. Racing at the Buckmore track in Kent where Lewis Hamilton honed his Karting skills, saw Robbie tackle some of the British Championship contenders he will come up against when the season starts fully in April.

In only his second visit to the track, the first being in January 09, he had a difficult first qualifying heat when another competitor dropped oil on the track which reduced the time he had and meant he could only qualify 10th for the second heat. Determined to show his pace he stormed through the pack to finish 4th, and in the third heat he had a close battle with the two front runners both of whom had visited and won at the track many times before to finish 3rd. Run by the Prokart Engineering Team, as Robbie will be for his assault on the British Championship, the team were confident that Robbie could finish on the podium.

In one of the toughest races he has had, Robbie entered the last corner of the final in three-a-breast battle. Holding on to the inside line and driving superbly Robbie took the win by just over a tenth of a second. This was a tremendous result as Buckmore is known to be one of the most difficult circuits he will visit this year making the win even more special.

Julien, Robbie’s farther commented “This was one of Robbie’s finest race weekends. During the weekend we had all free practice in the wet, and race day was on a drying track. Robbie was so focused on winning it did not seem to matter what was thrown at him and I am so proud of him and the result. Being with Prokart Engineering made all the difference, and Robbie and I are looking forward to the rest of 2010.”

Robbie Celebrates Sixth Championship

12 year old Somerset Karting star Robbie Gallier enjoyed his final celebration of his 2009 season. Robbie was at the Llandow Kart Club awards evening where he received his trophy for winning the Honda Cadet Championship. The championship consisted of nine race weekends, each consisting of 3 heats of 8 laps and final of 10 laps, competing in only seven of the races as one clashed with another championship and one he had to miss due to a broken collar bone and wrist he sustained at the Dunkeswell crash.

Robbie won the championship in style winning all 7 race weekends he entered and also broke the lap record which he now holds for his class. He was very proud to receive his trophies presented by Jordan Chamberlin the 2009 European and British KF2 Champion.

2009 was an amazing first full year in Karting for Robbie winning 28 race weekends, 11 of those consecutively, 6 championships and setting 3 lap records. This betters many of the current F1 stars achievements in their first season in Karts.

Robbie commented, “It’s been a fantastic year, as soon as I started racing I just knew that this was what I really want to do. Thanks to everyone who has helped me in 2009 and I can’t wait until the snow goes so I can get racing again.“

All thoughts are now of the 2010 season in which Robbie will compete in the British Championship and defend the NKRA, full plans will be released in the next few weeks, when there will be exciting news of his sponsors for the 2010 season.

Support in 2009 was from Lucas Oil, Talon, PIAA, Prokart Eng, South West Karting and WSM Fasteners.

PRESS RELEASE: 14th December 2009

Double Celebration for Robbie

Lympsham Karter 12 year-old Robbie Gallier has stunned the Karting world with his results in his first full season, as he did again at the Clay Pigeon track which is situated between Yeovil and Dorchester.

Robbie attended the awards ceremony on the Friday evening where he was crowned Honda Cadet Champion of 2009. Then on the Saturday there was free practice in preparation for a full days racing on Sunday. With the race being the annual one-off Turkey Trot, Robbie could go all out with no championship to think of - just winning the Turkey for which the awards were presented by Colin Clark.

With limited light this time of the year there were only 2 heats and the final on the Sunday. Saturday saw Robbie immediately on the pace and he was the quickest Cadet all day.

Going into Sunday with a very positive approach saw him take the first 10 lap heat and win starting from fourth by 12 seconds, which was truly amazing considering that two of the top seeded national drivers were competing. The second heat was a drama because as Robbie set off a team member forgot to switch the fuel on and he came to a stop on the first corner. With help from a fellow competitor's father Mike White, Robbie continued but could only manage to make up one place from last, however he still managed fastest lap as he had done in the first heat.

Due to the second heat he qualified 5th for the final in very cold weather. Nothing seemed to daunt Robbie as he was in lead before completing his first lap of the 15 going on to take the win by another tremendous margin of 18 seconds. A superb result and the end of an amazing year's racing at Clay Pigeon. Robbie is off next weekend to Buckmore Park in Kent for the first round of the Winter Championship there.
